Privacy Policy
This policy explains how Smart AI Translator (the “App”) accesses and processes information when you translate text, use your camera or microphone, conduct AI-assisted conversations, or use its floating translator.
1. Information We Process
Text translation
Text you type or paste for regular translation is processed using Google ML Kit's on-device translation. We do not operate a separate AK Nexus server that receives this ordinary on-device translation text. Google ML Kit may transmit technical diagnostic and device information as described below.
Camera translation and OCR
With your permission, the App uses the camera and on-device optical character recognition (OCR) to extract visible text. In the current configuration, full camera images are not sent to a cloud OCR server for camera translation. Recognized text is used to provide the translation you request.
Voice input and spoken output
If you activate voice input, the App accesses your microphone to recognize spoken words and convert them into text. Depending on the speech recognition service available on your Android device, audio may be processed locally or sent to that service's servers. Text-to-speech (TTS) is used to read text aloud and is separate from speech recognition. If recognized words are entered into the Gemini-powered conversation feature, that text is transmitted to Google. The exact audio-processing method may vary with the speech service or device configuration.
Two-person AI conversation via Google Gemini
When you use AI-assisted conversation translation, prompts, submitted text, conversation context and generated responses are processed using Google's Gemini API. This requires transmitting that content to Google. The App currently uses the Gemini API unpaid/free tier. Under Google's terms for unpaid services, submitted content and generated responses may be used to provide, improve and develop Google products and machine learning technologies, and may be examined by human reviewers. Do not submit confidential, sensitive or private information through this feature.
Floating translator and Accessibility Service
The optional floating button lets you request translations of text displayed in other supported applications. To do this, the App may require Android's Accessibility Service, which can access on-screen text. The floating translator uses the text it reads for on-device Google ML Kit translation. Accessibility access may expose sensitive text in other apps, so enable it only when you wish to use this feature. You can disable access through Android Settings. The App should also display a separate, prominent in-app disclosure and obtain your affirmative consent before enabling this access.
Offline phrases
Everyday phrase collections available offline are accessed from content stored on your device. Using this feature does not itself require a Gemini conversation request.
Technical information
Google ML Kit and Android components may process technical information such as device or installation identifiers, app feature events, diagnostic information, performance measurements, errors, configuration details and similar operational data. This differs from the content translated locally on your device. We do not currently use Firebase Analytics or Firebase Crashlytics in Smart AI Translator.
2. Why Data Is Used
Data is used to provide translation and speech features you request, generate AI conversation responses, operate the floating translator, supply offline language resources, maintain safety and security, and support diagnostics and service reliability. We do not currently show advertisements in Smart AI Translator.
3. Third-Party Providers
- Google ML Kit: on-device translation and associated technical telemetry. See ML Kit Android data disclosure.
- Google Gemini API: online AI conversation translation. See Gemini API terms and Google Privacy Policy.
- Android speech recognition / speech services: may process spoken input as described above, depending on the service configured on your device.
- On-device OCR: recognizes camera text locally for translation.
We do not currently use in-app ad networks, Firebase Analytics, or Firebase Crashlytics for Smart AI Translator. This policy does not cover the separate AK Nexus PDF Reader app, which has its own privacy policy.
4. Permissions and Choices
- Camera: for capturing text to recognize and translate.
- Microphone: for optional speech input.
- Accessibility Service: to obtain text from other applications when you use floating translation.
- Display over other apps: to display the floating translation button.
- Network access: for Gemini API, language resources and any other network-dependent services.
You can disable relevant Android permissions in your device settings. Some app functions may not work if their necessary permissions are denied. You may choose not to use the optional AI conversation, camera, microphone or floating-translation features.
5. Storage, Retention and Deletion
The App does not require users to create an AK Nexus account. Local settings, downloaded language models and other locally stored app resources can remain on your device until you clear the App's storage or uninstall it. AK Nexus does not currently offer an account-based translation-history service.
Content sent to Gemini or a device speech provider is subject to those providers' retention and use practices. In particular, unpaid Gemini API content may be retained or used for product improvement. Clearing App storage does not necessarily delete data held by third-party providers. You can contact AK Nexus about privacy inquiries using the address below; we cannot guarantee deletion of data controlled by other providers.
6. Security
Google Gemini API uses HTTPS for network requests, and Google ML Kit documents encrypted transmission for its telemetry. Other platform-dependent speech services may use their own network security mechanisms. We take reasonable steps to protect app communications, but no electronic service is completely secure.
7. Children and Age Requirements
Gemini-powered functionality is subject to Google's age-related API restrictions. Under current Gemini API terms, API clients must not be directed toward or likely to be accessed by people under 18. Individuals under 18 should not use the App's Gemini-powered conversation feature. AK Nexus must ensure its actual app distribution, controls and use of Gemini comply with these requirements. If you have concerns about a minor's information, please contact us.

Some links lead to third-party sites governed by their own policies. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of independent third parties.
9. Updates
We may update this policy when features, vendors or requirements change. The effective date at the top will be updated when material changes are published.
